It is a very good weekend when I have read two unputdownable books 👏 Grimstink by @idanielpeak.bsky.social is a clever, funny, twisty and original take on sci-fi. Totally brilliant! Off to get a copy of Little Horror now 😁 @fireflypress.bsky.social #KidLitUK #UKKidLit

Cover art by Jack Brougham With all that is going on in the world at the moment, I’m not entirely convinced that the destruction of the Earth by aliens wouldn’t be an entirely bad thing…

Chuffed and grateful that the very first response to Grimstink is as generous as this

What a story! It's got it all: goodies, baddies, love, sibling jealousy, aliens, annihilation of Earth and friendship. There are twists and turns that have you guessing the whole way to the end and then there's the humour. It's laugh-out-loud funny in places. @idanielpeak.bsky.social
The title is in large green letters at the top. Underneath is a picture of 4 people. They are all standing and looking forwards with a range of facial expressions. In the background there are various space/techie objects floating around.

I’ve heard good things about both of those, Tom. I’m coming to the end of middle grade Grimstink by Daniel Peak, which is very funny, and then I’m going to start YA read Thirst by Darren Simpson, which I’m hugely looking forward to x

The book and its press release. The book’s cover shows a group of 4 children, one of whom is wearing a glowing pink crystal pendant around their neck, with alien heads floating above them on the right and slices of cheese, tomato and pickle on the left.
