#GroupChatGate

Groupchatgate was the biggest virtual work oopsie since Jeffrey Toobin jerked off on Zoom

the very worst thing, on a long list of worst things about Groupchatgate, is that the screenshots shared by The Atlantic show the leaders of the free world having a lower-level, less enlightening discussion of foreign policy than any random Bsky thread, and that’s how they decided to kill people

The non-relatable thing to me about Groupchatgate is that Goldberg left the chat after things settled down. Couldn’t be me. I’d at least have said hi before going

One clear winner from Groupchatgate

Groupchatgate is the funniest fucking shit that's ever happened, please understand that I woke up twice in the night and laughed about it again. I just don't like it when nations bomb other nations even when they are Your Team.

Trump's going to have to come up with the mother of all distractions to cover up GroupChatGate.

And yet they’ll bring a salad fork to the buffet, whisper about norms, and ask if now is really the right time. This party stays performing concern while the GOP burns the house down and installs a gift shop in the rubble.

The saddest part about Groupchatgate?

After all of Zuckerbergs spineless groveling, the Trump top brass is using *checks notes* SIGNAL to seal the fate of the world.

a vet friend feels that the more widely the groupchatgate story is known, the more secdef hegeseth will hemhorrage rank-and-file military support

"I just talked to Elon on the way here. We've got the best technical minds looking into this": The Secretary of Defense on the #GroupChatGate thing.

Dude, you just added someone who you shouldn't have? There's no need for a digital autopsy on the whole thing. You should just accept it & resign.

One assumes that whichever luckless aide takes the fall for #groupchatgate will be annoyed that this particular title can’t be used for their memoirs.

I'm somewhat removed as a Brit without a dog in the fight (although American fascism / government incompetence has a risk of being accepted as the norm), but a useful tactic I'm not seeing used in the #GroupChatGate thing is the suggesting that President Trump is weak for not firing the SecDef.

Groupchatgate?

Signalgate?

Textgate?

One lie after another from Trump's Intells about the the Groupchatgate. 1. They weren't war plans. (They were.) 2. It wasn't classified. (It was OPSEC.) She doesn't remember. 3. They can't reveal how it happened because of national security. (Contradicts 2.)

I know "imagine if Dems" is beyond cliché at this point but if groupchatgate had happened under a Dem administration Repubs would be howling for the SecDef's head on a pike and for once they'd actually be right to

If I were a chickenhearted Republican senator who’s kinda unhappy about all the crazy but also kinda spineless - groupchatgate is the excuse I need to raise a fuss abt Hegseth et al putting American soldiers in harm’s way, being unpatriotic etc w/o directly opposing Trump.

what is the name for this incident? "SignalGate"? "GroupChatGate"? "DumbAssGate"?

Groupchatgate reveals something I’ve long suspected—you can’t trust people who use emojis like that

“Text me your war plans” is how I’m going to ask all my friends how they want to hang out from now on. 🤣 #WhiskeyLeaks #GroupChatGate
