Vandaag verplaatst naar Antoudi. Van de zee naar de woestijn. Onderweg langs het plaatsje Guelmim. Bekend van de karavaan door de woestijn. Met rode huizen en blauwe luiken. Plots in de woestijn een oase met veel palmen Taghjijt. Een kudde dromedarissen. Prachtige route

Day 2 Winter Sun birding Morocco with @naturetrek.bsky.social & we tried the Fask area to the east of Guelmim. The arid conditions make it tough going but plenty of interest with Thick-billed Lark the highlight. Med ST & Hoopoe Larks and a large flock of Black-bellied Sandgrouse.

First recruited in 1908, Goumiers were theoretically in the service of the Sultan, though under French command. Soon dozens of Goums - roughly company-sized - were formed. Typical 1930s organization was 3 infantry platoons, a cavalry platoon, MG group and mule train: 161 Goumiers and 10 Frenchmen.

Today we transferred from Guelmim to Agadir on Morocco winter sun with @naturetrek.bsky.social . We stopped at the park & the landscape was green and blooming as the winter rains have done their magic. Addax, Dorcas Gazelle & Red-necked Ostrich were at their best.

Am Meer oder auf dem Atlas ist es normalerweise kühler, das ist so.
Zagora oder Guelmim (beide war ich schon mal), was eigentlich schon fast Sahara ist, ist nicht heisser als Marrakesch.
