Improbable Deaths:

“The bullet hit Daisy in the side. But Daisy had inherited Rose's steel-boned corsets and the bullet ricocheted off one of the steels, pinged off a bronze bust of Lord Hedley, and planted itself in the marchioness's forehead.”

I find the people claiming to be pro-life are not. They are just anti-abortion. Being pro-life would be 20 Sandy Hook kids in high school. I am tired of “pro-life” folks only offering thoughts & prayers, when they plan to do nothing to stop the mass shootings #GunControl

America goes to vote, but gun control is as far away as ever. Two different versions of freedom, one with it's origins in slavery

Why do some Americas resist gun control? Slavery and the Second Amendment are inextricably linked to guns, liberty and power.

State Rep. Vitullo urges a yes vote on Ballot Question 9 to preserve school- and health-provider ERPO authority
At the Brookline vigil, State Rep. Tommy Vitullo urged voters to keep a 2024 law that allows school administrators and licensed health-care providers to initiate extreme risk protection orders, warning that a 'no' vote would remove those categories.

Everyone's Watching the Gun Buyback. They're Missing the Real Change
The NSW gun buyback started today. You're going to see a lot of photos of guns being handed in. That's not the change I'm worried about... I've dealt with around 50 firearms matters in the past six months. Again and again it's people losing their licence over something that happened five or ten years ago. And since the law changed, there's no independent tribunal to look at whether that decision was right. NCAT review is gone. If you want the decision looked at again, it goes back to police. Before I was a defence lawyer I was a police officer, then a police prosecutor. So I've seen this from a few angles. In this one I walk you through: - why you can lose a firearms licence without being charged with anything - how old history, including mental health events, is being weighed right now - suspension vs revocation vs cancellation (they're very different) - mandatory disqualifications, discretion, and what "public interest" actually means here - why removing the umpire matters, even if the decision turns out to be right Even if you'll never own a gun, you should care how the government decides someone can't hold a licence anymore, and who checks the decision when it's wrong. Roy Butler MP has introduced a bill to bring NCAT review back: https://www.parliament.nsw.gov.au/parliamentary-business/bills/bill-details?billId=18957 Got a legal question? Subscribe. Every week I answer the questions you send in, for free. 📖 My book, Objection: objectionbook.com.au This video is general information about NSW law, not legal advice. If you've been sent a notice about your licence, get advice on your own situation, because time limits may apply. #GunLaws #nsw #Firearms #GunBuyback #australianlaw

To those who point to the killing of Japan’s former PM, saying “See, gun control doesn’t work”, please explain why Japan with a population of 125 million had only 10 gun-related deaths in 2023. Sensible gun control works. Even Regan supported more gun control. #guncontrol
