After much cajoling my younger brother has his #hamr licence. He's ZL1MM and needs 50 QSOs on V/UHF in the first 3 months to get access to to the HF bands. The Anytone is on the way. If you're passing through north Auckland give him a call :) @zl3ab.bsky.social @zl3gav.bsky.social

Due to the approaching fast solar wind, geomagnetic activity is expected to be mostly quiet to active (Kp2–4), although G1/light storms (Kp5) may occur at times. Solar activity is low to moderate, with further M-class flares expected (M35% X10%). Fair to good DX condx. #spaceweather #hamradio #hamr

Interesting chats with my 10 yr old nephew this afternoon. Including crystal radios, military radios, Bletchley Park (he's hoping to visit sometime next year), Enigma, The Bombe, Colossus and Morse code. He enjoyed tapping away (mostly SOS and SMS) on this old straight key from a light ship. #Hamr
