Oh, I'm getting old.
The fantastic episode Hardhome (Game of Thrones S5E8) aired 10 years ago today on HBO. 🤯

I remember being glued to my chair. 😂

Eleven years ago today, an episode of Game of Thrones ("Hardhome", Season 5) left me so glued to my seat that I’m still thinking and posting about it 11 years later. 🔥

If it ended at Hardhome, I think it's an all-timer and "how does it end" is still a water cooler topic. Alas.
I think its place on this list is not completely unreasonable if you limit it to, I dunno, through season 6

but the ending is maybe the single biggest failure to stick the landing I've ever seen, it went from being culturally ubiquitous to embarrassing overnight

yeah, it was so shocking (i.e. not at all) that the seasons that were derived from the books were great, and the seasons after that mostly sucked.

Having said that, Battle of Hardhome was great

When the wights threw themselves off the mountain in the Hardhome episode of Game of Thrones, that was fucking terrifying.

"Hardhome" is apparently 11 years old, today. I will never stop championing this particular episode as a perfect example of what television can do when the stars, and necessary budgets, align.

The last episode of 'Game of Thrones' aired in the UK on this day in 2019.
Yes, there are issues with the fact it ran out of books long before it ended, but "Hardhome" (s5 e8) is one of the most dramatic hours' worth of television I've ever seen. A personal opinion btw, so need to tell me I'm wrong.

I googled this to make sure I wasn't confusing Ed Sheeran with some other ginger child soldier and that's how I found out that the members of Mastodon played wildlings in the Hardhome episode
I mean I know who he IS (that ginger child soldier from Game of Thrones duh)
