Election result: Florida Republicans just defended a legislative district (HD118) in a special election tonight by 6%, 52% to 46%.

Trump won the district by 17% in 2020, which was a huge shift toward the GOP compared to 2016.

Illinois's #HD118 is really the only competitive non-metro St. Louis district in southern Illinois, a far cry from the olden days of southern Illinois Democratic dominance.

Even then, this district (which stretches from Carbondale to Cairo) backed Trump by 16 points last year.

Onee seat that Rs already seem to be conceding is HD118 in San Antonio. The GOP incumbent there had been a perpetual overperformer, but then he ran for Congress in the gerrymandered TX35 as one of the GOP's strongest recruits. Until he lost the primary LMAO. Dem candidate from 2024 is running again.
