You mean like wearing N95s and running large HEPAs in each room like they did at the start of this thing?

Samesies. I do Oct & April for this very reason! My dentist has giant HEPAs running in every room, which I appreciate, but tough to believe that will help when the hygienist is literally breathing into your face from behind a surgical mask...

We have 2 & use these double taped to our HEPAs for everything from doc/dental appts to one sitting on the arm rest below a cars window when picking up drive thru takeaway.

So far so good 😊.

As someone who just spent a night at a COVID conscious friend's house during my West Coast trip, I wish I could have shared this with her.

Was SO awesome to walk into a house like mine, open windows, running HEPAs.

We're still very much in a Pandemic, and vaccines, as valuable as they are, don't stop transmission of Covid, other preventative measures like HEPAs, N95's masks are desperately needed. This is misleading.

Here are the filters local schools sold over the summer without telling teachers. Probably didn’t want to spend a few dollars per student on filter changes and power. To be fair, most HEPAs are loud and don’t clean a ton of air, so I wouldn’t buy these for a school, but that’s not why they sold them

I can't help thinking that decent HEPAs would go a long way to reducing viral spread in classrooms generally.
Tho' I'm pretty sure I've taught my last high school English class in a building, I'd like to teach dance again & would definitely keep air filtration going in the studio.

The changes I’ve made in my life now that we have to live w/ Covid are: mask indoors in public spaces (earloop + headband N95s), run standalone hepas at home (+ mask at home if partner is sick), socialize outdoors as much as possible, open windows at other people’s houses, 3M Aura at work (hospital)

🚨🧵by @lazaruslong13.bsky.social on IAQ, especially about placement of HEPAs vs Covid infected folks:

"Very interesting study. Definitely a must read.
One of my main take-aways? Like an open window, you do NOT want to sit BETWEEN that Covid infected..."

Its a good question @andyburnham.bsky.social its past time to save money on deep cleans and open windows buy hepas and respirator masks instead. Lots of false economies in dealing with flu and covid.

I stopped masking at work in May. I still mask on transit and sit between two hepas with new filtres. But yeah. Got to get to it.

Currently wearing an N95 in bed because the construction next door suddenly started spewing white dust into the air. Also closed the window and cranked the HEPAs to max.

Hope other neighbours have some kind of protections from this.

A local pub in Vancouver does a monthly mask nite & cabaret show and the times I've been were great. N95s required, HEPAs, open door for good ventilation. The bar charged admission and we supported it that way. Bars bring people together and are more than just about alcohol

Nope. But I did trust my doctor’s clinic to know the state of rabies in BC and was willing to not get the series (they *still* require masking in-clinic and have HEPAs in every room). Any other doctor? I’d have been firm on demanding the shots.

There’s 2 of us that have to go so we’ll take the same precautions we always do. At least the dentist & nurse wear n95’s for us & it’s a small practice but, it’ll only take 1 person.

The XOnes taped to the top of the HEPAs will be working overtime that day.

So far so good 🤞.
September 23, 2026 at 1:33 AM
Yeah, I’m upset about it. Film and TV had really good precautions earlier in the pandemic and they know how to mitigate and they should still be mitigating. Sick days, HEPAs behind the walls and masks any time anyone enters the house would be a start. And actually testing for COVID.

It’s such a lovely day to be outside too. Ruined by smoke, especially for those sensitive to it (👋 migraine). Result: indoors with the HEPAs running.

Hope your headache goes away quickly.

I meant to do so ages ago, ended up using commerical HEPAs over the last 6 years, but tonight I made my first Corsi–Rosenthal Box! My vet actually got me mobilized, she thinks it may help Bram's breathing challenges. It was really easy and not too much money. Apparently, they're quite powerful!
September 11, 2026 at 11:19 PM
I do not believe smoke from a large battery fire is safe to breathe. I really hope folks are using masks and hepas as much as possible 💔
September 11, 2026 at 12:15 AM
Or they could at least wear high quality well fitting masks and run HEPAs in various areas, like we actually learned a lot about how to prevent the spread of airborne infections and everyone has just decided not to do it 😭
September 9, 2026 at 5:48 PM
Absolutely no reason for houseguests to be getting sick, like stick some HEPAs behind those walls and in the DRs. It’s already a closed system, they should at least get a break from infections.

Devens is still sick. He seems to be getting worse, not better. #bb28

Obviously good source control should be the priority, however at home by myself… I take advantage of other features of HEPAs …
September 8, 2026 at 7:19 AM
I have 5 HEPAs running: “Adults aged >39 performed ~12% faster on a test of executive function after using a HEPA air purifier at home for one month. The findings suggest that cleaner indoor air could offer a simple way to help protect the brain from the effects of traffic-related pollution.”

Don't you hate typos?! I DO wear N95 respirators in any group setting, hepas at home & work, along with C02 & PM2.5 monitors. 6 years no sickdays - you can too so DO & show your family, friends, & coworkers you care about them and follow the science not propagandists!
