Well, it’s finally happened. The sickness is so rampant that the parents at school are talking about HEPAs and masks. They’re finally getting it.

5yo is sick (luckily first RAT negative) but wish me luck trying to escape onward transmission when I live with someone who closes windows and unplugs HEPAs 😞

Very hard to live with people who go around closing windows and unplugging HEPAs & accusing you of being mentally ill for taking Covid precautions while also putting you at risk every single week

A local pub in Vancouver does a monthly mask nite & cabaret show and the times I've been were great. N95s required, HEPAs, open door for good ventilation. The bar charged admission and we supported it that way. Bars bring people together and are more than just about alcohol

I'm surprised they even let teachers bring in fans. We were *prohibited* by our school board from DONATING HEPAs to the classrooms to ensure cleaner air.
My child’s school only has AC in the gym. The classrooms have 1 (one) fan each, brought in by the teacher. It’s already 30 C before 9am
They’ll herd all 600 kids into the gym for the day if they start feeling faint. This is definitely sustainable and conducive to learning

Currently wearing an N95 in bed because the construction next door suddenly started spewing white dust into the air. Also closed the window and cranked the HEPAs to max.
Hope other neighbours have some kind of protections from this.

Covid in the house update. Kim's still sick but basically "mild" so far. I am still feeling fine but skipped my long bike ride just in case. Hoping our HEPAs on every floor plus masking plus me sleeping in the spare room (& now the basement) keeps it that way.

Don’t ask me for any further details as to why I might be smuggling safer air… but small HEPAs can be disguised by and run very effectively from within mesh pencil cases and sports bags.

Additional layers are great (nasal sprays, portable HEPAs/UV torches) but masks are proven our best layer of protection. There are immunocompromised people who have to work big events like this and one-way masking is both alienating and less effective

I wish people would listen. We could easily have HEPAs in schools and care facilities. All that is lacking is will - I wish folks would fight for safer air.

Not only did only ~12% of participants get in-room HEPA (sharing common areas with the other 1,570 who didn't, with "up to 5" shared HEPAs), in-room HEPAs were only (reportedly) "usually" (which is...not a scientific unit of measure! 🙄) turned on.
For "pragmatic" read "sloppy"

Everyone should have HEPA in their home, and insurance should cover the costs for high-risk people. I’m running 5 HEPAs in my Detroit-area home amidst the Hazardous air outside today, and that’s keeping my air safe.
My proposal is that HEPA filters should be covered by health insurance for everybody with a preexisting condition (COPD and lots else but also including pregnancy and early childhood) and that AQ notices to vulnerable people should happen through their electronic health record systems.
