I bought a portable music player (HiBy R3 II) a couple months ago.
Physical buttons, a headphone jack, good audio quality, local storage.
I bought albums on Bandcamp, and downloaded the files.
This is awesome. I missed this.

HiBy added a free feature in the latest update that makes *whatever is playing* look like a cassette (works for podcasts to) and it's such a nifty idea. Some of the artwork really pops.
Shame they also swapped the Restart and Power buttons round so have to unlearn that 🤦♀️

As for music players, there's a lot of good choices but it depends on your budget. For the most part audio players don't really play music better the more you spend, what changes is storage capacity, battery, bluetooth/USB DAC mode, and how responsive the OS is.

I don’t think I’ve ever posted pics but I got really into digital audio players last year then a few months ago splurged on this EVA limited edition of the HiBy R4 and my god that thing is beautifully designed

Decided on getting a DAP for the first time in years (I was hoping my little ipod shuffle stick would still work but it does not LOL). Giving the HiBy R1 a try :D

Made the switch from Spotify (to Tidal via HiBy music) for obvious reasons and holy SHIT I feel like I can hear each individual ball hair on the musician swiping against their pants in each track
I never knew the music quality on Spotify was such complete dog ass lol

Если вкратце: плееры на Cirrus Logic в этом плане ок, но я предпочитаю обычно для такого типично приготовленную ESS Sabre (только не Hiby R4, он тёмный)

People seem to like the HIBY R4 but it's expensive. BUT you can get an Evangelion themed one so maybe it's worth it after all.
