Acute responses can be immune activation, endothelial and metabolic stress, or HPA/autonomic responses can be early results of triggers.

Then the failure of resolution (IMO the most mysterious): persistent antigens or lingering infection, continual activation of immune responses or HPA axis, etc.

ME Research UK:

Review study concludes that chronic stress may contribute to brain fog in ME/CFS by disrupting the Hypothalamic Pituitary Adrenal (HPA) axis and adversely affecting a part of the brain called the hippocampus.

Androgen loss accelerates brain tumour growth via HPA axis activation - Nature
Androgens have distinct roles in the brain, acting as immune-based tumour suppressors through neuroinflammation and neuroendocrine mechanisms.

The y-axis limits on Apple Weather’s pressure forecasts are frustrating. Fixed at 975–1065 hPa for a 24h period means most fluctuations are hard to discern. Further, <975 hPa is *much* more likely than >1065 hPa! (UK record is a sniff over 1050) Central point of the axis is 1020 hPa — a bit high.

🧬Science Wednesdays: HPA axis

The hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis is the communication between three organs: the hypothalamus region of the brain, the pituitary gland, and the adrenal gland. The HPA axis is a major part of the body’s stress management system.

7) CRH is the key that starts the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal (HPA) axis, the body’s primary stress response system.

It goes something like this: Hypothalamus -> CRH -> Pituitary gland -> ACTH -> Adrenal glands -> Cortisol.

I am excited to share that I received funding from the @dfg.de to study the links between acute and chronic glucose intake and HPA axis regulation. I will be hiring one PhD student soon (more infos will follow). (1/3)
