Fully agree. For years, following our POP-UP RCT in @thelancet.bsky.social 2016 we have been using preperitoneal catheters in all open #HPBsurgery (excl chron pancreatitis, COPD 3-4) with excellent results. In addition we place a depot bupivacaine on the future catheter sites at start of surgery.

Clinically very relevant. With epidural see prolonged need for vasopressors, iv fluids, urinary catheter. Was very impressed from seeing Amsterdam implementation of preperitoneal catheters in clinical routine for #HPBSurgery #HPBSky
