#HPPH
On our drive to the HPPH yesterday at 5.30pm the Otley Road was rammed with 20 year olds in fancy dress.
Two hours later on our way home it was rammed with 10 year olds in fancy dress (and attendant parents).
Halloween is simply boot camp for the Otley Run.

For all of my brothers and sisters, living or dead, including those here on Bluesky. What a long strange trip it's been, huh? What lies ahead is going to make the past look like good times. Have a plan.

But it's too short notice to get them credited with HPPH

Aaaaaaah The Hyde Park has pin badges of its iconic lamppost! Obviously, I immediately bought us each one. Not just because it's my favourite cinema in the world, but also because it used to be the lamppost I could see from my bedroom window* 😍

The iconic Hyde Park Picture House in Leeds ran a poetry competition to celebrate their 110th birthday, and the results are absolutely joyous! I absolutely love the winning poem by Jenna Isherwood, but they are all a treat to read.

Have you read/ seen Nickel Boys?
Was wary it wouldn’t do it justice but saw it at HPPH this week. I am still broken.

Having the Hyde Park Picture House as a local #cinema is brilliant and I support it wholeheartedly.

Keeping 35mm projection alive at Hyde Park Picture House
We're proud to keep 35mm projection alive here at HPPH. But this wouldn't be possible without the detective work of our amazing projection team, led by Mike, to find rare equipment and skills needed. ...

I hate that I started to like Aventurine the same way I started to like Childe, which is a period of disliking them followed by realizing "wait, they're actually pretty cool"

Also because Chao Ran absolutely nailed this cutscene with his intimidating voice for him

Check out our work on the isolation of elusive f-element diphosphene (HPPH) complexes, the first heavier Group 15 analogue of f-element diazenes (HNNH) that were first reported over thirty years ago.

Isolable f-element diphosphene complexes by phosphinidene group transfer and coupling at uranium - Nature Communications
The parent diphosphene molecule is of fundamental interest, but its reactive nature renders it challenging to isolate, and current metal-stabilized derivatives are limited to complexes of p-/d-metals....

An old Friend is bringing a new film to HPPH as part of the "Football Pride" summer event from Football v Homophobia.

"The Last Guest of the Holloway Motel" - Saturday 18 July 1.15pm with intro and Q&A

The event continues into Leeds Pride weekend, with World Cup 'watch party' opportunities
Fond memories – and a mystery
My name is Jon Holmes and I'm a former Friends of HPPH member who lived in Headingley for 12 years, leaving in 2013 to continue pursuing a career in sports journalism. The Picture House was one of the most important places in my world - I loved our Film Club meetings and getting to chat about whatever movie we'd just seen that night. Before writing this, I looked up an old film blog I used to keep from 2010 to 2012. It mentions many of the HPPH screenings I saw around that time - from "A Single Man" to "Submarine", from "Laura" to "Lilting"...

Same! My best HPPH story is one January in the 90s, we went to see a screening of The Thing. They wanted to cancel it because the boiler had broken and it was about 5C inside, but we insisted, and it ended up being the most immersive cinema experience ever!

Hyde Park Picture house going for yellowy-orange text on an orangey-yellow background.

I can understand this kind of nonsense for ‘unsubscribe’ links marketing folk want people *not* to find, but it's weird for slogans they, presumably, actually want people to read:
