What does it really mean for an experimental model to be “validated?"

In an introduction to the latest issue of BJHS Themes, Lara Keuck and Angela N. H. Creager examine that question through the history of scientific testing.

Congrats to my BU undergrad student Zach Mishara who was awarded this great #HPS Internship @ the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory @ Harvard to work on the #histsci collections! 🎉 He's a junior in our joint #Philosophy & #Physics double major & plans to apply to grad programs in HPS next year.

I grew sativa with 600w HPS. They make LED that are that strong now and run much cheaper. Sativa need strong light.

Thanks!
Default is just over 16 kWh/yr (so a large-ish house), because that's the average size of home HPs currently being installed in.
But you can customise heat demand in the tool
One thing to flag about our new heat pump lifetime cost tool: the default setting is for a reasonably large house.

16,802 kWh/yr is the average heat demand for a home getting an air source heat pump, compared to 9,500 kWh for the Ofgem "typical" home.

Holy crap they all know exactly where in OK and AR to buy it. Pot stores full of Texas plates. We heard Abbott ban CBD on the radio inside a CBD store in Lake Charles!! So many retire then tell me (I own a test lab) they are potheads. Katy, Woodlands, Dallas, SA, Boerne all over. XMO. Baker, HPS

TY for this, & for pressing her on the backsliding, Jackdaw, HPs etc—to which her answers were… frustrating? Elective focus on EVs > HPs? Related: v passive formulations re market demand (Hormuz & cost-effectiveness of electrification). Wanna know how+when they plan to get HPs in all buildings 🤔

This looks fantastic--congrats! 🎉 I just preordered & look forward to reading! #HPS

what’s going on with the HPS process?

100% agree! I read HPs both for the love and for the cray-cray and this surpasses a lot of cray and it isn't even a romance.

My boss quit teaching bc of Houston public schools. She was in some TFA-esque teacher scheme (i.e had no real training) and HPS just threw her into a special needs classroom with no preparation. Shows what they think of the special ed kids, that they'll just drop an untrained college student on them

My colleague Julia has been working on Astoria’s contentious HPS process and says there are no neutrals in town on this measure and everyone wants to talk about it. Pretty interesting.

Yep, had to crank it up a tad for the bluetooth HPs, very very enjoyable

Honestly at this point bring a couple of good laneholders and like a DPS to killing Talulah and then raise Nightingale and load up on healing. It's basically a HPS check at its core.

The targets req HPs to increase substantially if they don't then other targets are in problems.

On Kitzmiller: that is fair thing to raise. Fuller’s defence of ID has been widely criticised, by Ruse and others in HPS and STS, and I don’t dismiss that. But this conversation was about the university, and that’s where I focused. Listeners can weigh that work on its merits
