“We’ve taken another look at HS2 beyond Birmingham, and this is what we can afford”
Mr Burnham's Friday morning science experiments were the highlight of the school week

But .... But .... HS2

😂

It would be no less a bad idea if we had built a Maglev to the North, let alone HS2.

Non-comprehensive things you could buy with $500m

- Kylian Mbappé, thrice
- 10 functioning and maintained HIMARS systems (asking for a friend)
- About 2/3 of Wembley Stadium
- 1100 metres of HS2
- 2 KitKat Chunkies for every man, woman and child in the USA.
Elon Musk is having one of the worst nights any human being has ever had. Hundreds of millions of dollars lit on fire.

My god.

Residents near Queen's Park deserve answers about the cracks in their homes. What they don't need is a Daily Mail headline stating a cause nobody has established. Our fight back: www.hackedoff.org/blog-posts/n...
No, HS2 has not been shown to have cracked these Queen’s Park homes
A Daily Mail headline said HS2 tunnelling causes Victorian homes in north-west London to sink and crack. But this is speculation; the cause has not been established.

HS2 sucks. This is true.

Don't build it's replacement in London. Build it in Birmingham at least then HS2 will have some value

HS2 trains could be serving London Euston by 2043, with trains running between Old Oak Common and Curzon Street from 2036. Meanwhile, tracklaying should start between the West London station and the Midlands from April 2030 says HS2 Ltd CEO Mark Wild

The most recent issue of @railmagazine.bsky.social [1073] contains my latest feature, which details the work which has taken place over the summer on a 3km section of the HS2 route in Northamptonshire.

I wonder why people who vote for pro Palestine policies are considered far left entrists and people who vote to change long standing Green Party policy on nuclear power or HS2 aren't.

Qwhite a conundrum.

Johnson did the same with HS2 - speed over substance, costing £bns.

Between this, the eternal fuel duty freeze, the still-maddening decision to stop HS2, the development of Jackdaw and Rosefield(?), and Labour's slavering for data centres and AI flimflam, we can really only conclude that these people are more than happy to watch the world burn for a +2 poll bump

Maybe if we were still in the EU they'd do the same with HS2?

You're totally right, I'd worry it would be like covid PPE/HS2 all over again
November 4, 2026 at 2:53 PM
Although I don't think this discussion would be so controversial if HS2 was actually being built to the North and wasn't massively delayed and over budget (and London isn't to blame for that, but our political system certainly is)

Is there a job for pretend, sorry, Shadow Transport Minister?!

Make HS2 a motorway and brick up the Channel Tunnel - job done!
