Technically, I should probably say "relaunching" the program in 2018-2019. The original Agility Prime was something more like the Bell HSVTOL/SPRINT development. But Dr. Will Roper took the name and started the current Agility Prime program with then Lt Col Nate Diller as the action officer.

DARPA x Bell X-Plane Combines Helicopter with Fighter Jet, Based on Valor-280 (MV-75) Tiltrotor Aircraft
Bell Textron’s X-Plane, part of DARPA’s Speed and Runway Independent Technologies (SPRINT) program, combines the straight up and down maneuverability of a helicopter with the speed of a jet. Taking cues from the Valor-280’s tiltrotor design, the X-Plane has a new trick called High-Speed Vertical Takeoff and Landing (HSVTOL). It can rise vertically, hover steady as a rock, and then zip through the air at 400 to 450 knots—about 460 to 518 mph.

DARPA X Bell X-Aircraft Combines Helicopter With Fighter Jet, Primarily Based On Valor-280 (MV-75) Tiltrotor Plane
Bell Textron’s X-Aircraft, a part of DARPA’s Pace and Runway Unbiased Applied sciences (SPRINT) program, combines the straight up and down maneuverability of a helicopter with the pace of a jet. Taking cues from the Valor-280’s tiltrotor design, the X-Aircraft has a brand new trick referred to as Excessive-Pace Vertical Takeoff and Touchdown (HSVTOL). It may rise vertically, hover regular as a rock, after which zip by the air at 400 to 450 knots—about 460 to 518 mph. That’s sooner than any helicopter, beating the Airbus X3’s 293 mph document and near a industrial jet.
