#Hackerish
But I like to type exit. Makes me feel hackerish

I remember when video game programmers were considered to be hackerish/cowboy coders and application programmers were the serious Software Engineering type but it's completely flipped now. The smartest people work in games & the bar is below the floor for application software
It’s crazy how we have computers capable of creating 24-player racing games with enormous landscapes, detailed terrain, and bouncy animations, yet I import two videos with transparency into Adobe Premiere and my computer has a stroke.

They're doing hackerish things because they trained them on the text of all of Stack Overflow and Information Security Stack Exchange and god knows what else. There's nothing they've done that is not presumably also doable by a human hacker. There is nothing about these crimes that is due to "AI".

no, this will only be openrouter, so broadly anyone who has an application or use case that lets them pick their model and is a little hackerish about it

There is a new cybersecurity con coming to Boston this spring, MinuteCon!

Boston has a long history of cybersecurity impact going back to the @l0pht.bsky.social days in the 90s but hasn't had a major hackerish oriented con since Source Boston 10 yrs ago. Looking forward to this!

Its still keeping alive the old school hackerish "who cares what others do I just wanna smoke weed, and hangout" along with all the old web culture of forums. Generally, the more of an old school community a sub is the more liberal it is. Big slop subs are unsurprisingly the worst.

Reminds me of this from “The Curse of Xanadu” by Gary Wolf in WIRED (1995)

Welp. This seems sorta hackerish. Wonder what the FBI is gonna do about it. 🧐
It’s worse than we thought!

A 25-year-old Musk crony, Marko Elez, with zero government experience, had direct access to trillions in federal spending—while the White House and Treasury lied about it.

The truth: Elez could write code on 2 of the most sensitive systems in the US government.

We’ve missed an opportunity to make these 2FA screens as 90s hackerish as possible

Pro tip, always write code that makes lots of unnecessary print statements so it looks cool and hackerish to anyone looking over your shoulder

yeah but that uniqlo jacket is pretty techweary... even if not fully, the shape of the neck piece is pretty hackerish style, don't know how to define it but it looks nice...

And every single one of these words is their own long-necked dinosaur...
Even after many years in IT and software dev, our Critis guy and the more hackerish people in my dep can make my eyes glaze over in minutes.

They've sent me some black electrical tape & asked me to cover the cameras on all my devices, said I've nearly made them regret their hackerish ways.

the way @traefik.bsky.social keeps different user personas in mind for their docs is exemplary! Bravo! I'm a hackerish person that has compiled Linux kernels back when it was cool, but networking was always voodoo for me and I need those entry level docs badly!

Hackerish example: Increase the payment-system's values for each week's Treasuries auction by 10%. Have the system extract the slightly higher amount from private accounts and direct that 10% difference into one's own bank account. Then rollback to the system's normal code

10% of $1T/y is $100B/y

The venue was a nice touch too - the Computer History Museum in Ljubljana. Very hackerish energy for a security talk.

On the other hand, Vim gives off a bit of a romantic, hackerish vibe. Unfortunately, I've never seen a hacker-themed movie featuring Vim or Emacs — have you? But that's probably what real hackers are using. Vim is widely available on almost every Linux machine.
