The image shows in the foreground a burnt landscape - black tree trunks, brown dead leaves, many chopped up branches and trees. On a dirt road is a white 4WD Ute. In the distance is a lush green valley, a darker green mountain and blue sky. This photo was taken by my mother. Australia experiences many devastating bushfires, which is only increasing. A number of years ago my parents joined a team of volunteers who went to bushfire devastated areas and worked with farmers to rebuild their fences. Farmers found it hard enough dealing with the aftermath of these fires, that trying to rebuild kilometres of fence lines was a step too far. It was an amazing effort by hundreds of volunteers from all around Australia. My parents undertook 2 such missions. My father was a workhorse.
