As someone whose research is about what may effectively be the last gasp of egalitarian village communities in SW Asia bf class-based social inequality begins sticking around, this is an important question. Because for thousands of years "charismatic leaders" *did not have* control. #HalafTwitter

Uruk bevel-rimmed bowls aggressively reject everything it means to be a Halaf vessel. They're mass produced. Sloppy. "Efficient". Meant for rations for workers whose labor was alienated within a social hierarchy. They're the quintesssance of everything that's wrong with us, imho. #HalafTwitter

Feeling extremely sad over the end of my latest teaching contract, my lab, and my great students, which I loved, and the big hopeless void of whatever comes next.

Oooh looks like there are some new spicy Halaf articles out! I haven't read it yet, but I'm guessing the one by Garfinkel (of Dancing at the Dawn of Agriculture) on secret societies will be...either really cool or really divisive, depends on how he actually engaged the anthro lit. #HalafTwitter

You know what I love? I love when certain official Insta pages for certain very large & important excavations in Türkiye post pics of event stages w/rows of men & not a single woman in sight. A site famous for women's representation but modern women are invisible in public discourse!! #HalafTwitter

Here's a question: are there Neolithic populations anywhere who were building their round houses inside the aurochs "bull pits" described here?? It seems like that's something we might be able to figure out stratigraphically. How big were they? #HalafTwitter

Looking at the 2022 R. Matthews and Fazeli Nashli open access book on Iran for JWare references, and found these citations of the Henricksons. The first time I met Bob I was in college and he was working at the Borders Books on Rockville Pike. He was so kind to me. <3 #HalafTwitter
