Update: Emergency ballots cast in Westchester County, New York, will be collected by bipartisan election officials and transported under police escort to a counting location tonight.

From hallucinations to partisan bias, artificial intelligence chatbots like ChatGPT and Claude are not helpful when it comes to Election Day.

They lean left because reality leans left and the labs trying to make them non partisan is causing thrashing and hallucinations in various use cases. Theres no such thing as non partisain and the LLMs know this.
Here is a mass attempted replication of old findings of LLMs with new models. Much conventional wisdom is outdated.

Recent models no longer invent citations and both hallucination rates & stereotyping has dropped. But they are still sycophantic & lean left. zou-group.github.io/llm-claims-s...

Jack's arcade of AI hallucinations: Backcountry edition
Missteps in wild spaces aren't new. But using AI chatbots for guidance in the wilderness creates unique risks. “When humans work with AI systems, they can get so deep into it they give up thinking critically for themselves.”
Using AI to plan backcountry trips is getting people into big trouble
“I think they kind of turned their brains off.”

Just as important as the emergence of these hallucinations is their disappearance. For many of us, chatbots that *used to* pass the Turing Test now flunk it.

In 2024, I realized that I'd been lulled into false confidence by AI and bots on Twitter.

Had to leave. Can't stay surrounded by Nazis and their hallucinations.

We shouldn’t have allowed ourselves access to the capability to render the most depraved hallucinations of the illiterate in hyperreal uncanny-valley detail.
Why would George Lucas do this to George Lucas?

Goodnight, Bluesky.

This all feels like a fever dream.

A Democratic Senate that Fetterman can't fuck up? A 40 seat House margin?

Let's see what other wild hallucinations I come up with by dawn.

A new paper re-tested 50 widely cited findings about LLM behavior (biases, hallucinations, sycophancy, etc)

In 15 months, most had substantially reduced effects.

44% of the claims are expired, 34% are weakener, 16% persisted, 6% have strengthened

That's not the same as saying hallucinations are a natural consequence of how LLMs are constructed; that much is well known and indeed something anyone using them has to factor in. No, this is saying the hallucinations are *deliberate* but by prompting for "no mistakes" you can switch them off. Mad!
