I have been gatekeeping the Chicago Public Library’s summer reading for adults program and I’m sorry. I am breaking my silence bc looking at the available events has forced me to log on to hype up the library and also bc I don’t think you can finish 5 books before Monday when I am going to an event

I had been looking to start a cookbook club but was not getting much interest—but thanks to #hatquest, I found out that some @chipublib.bsky.social branches have cookbook clubs! Off to my first one tonight!

thank you to @kadschmad.bsky.social for posting this, which resulted in me getting the very last hat at Merlo! #hatquest complete, I really wish they had planned for more demand since going out on a scarcity note doesn't feel great

#hatquest accomplishment number three (halfway done)! "Meet Chicago's Street Trees" event at Sulzer. Absolutely delightful event, learned about trees.

#hatquest accomplishment number two! Finally saw "Punch 9 for Harold Washington" at the King Branch with my mom. We were the only two attendees (along with one of the librarians) which is a shame because it's an excellent documentary and very relevant to the present

Went to a screening of CANDYMAN (1992) at the Bucktown-Wicker Park branch for #hatquest. The librarian was tickled by how many of us were there (12?). Always nice to make a librarian smile!

I think the librarians have some discretion––my local was being strict about three books and three programs, but another branch let me complete my #HatQuest with four books and two programs!
