I miss 80s/90s dirty Toronto very much. Any glimpse into Late Great movies on City-tv. With its headshops and niche 'convenience' stores. Buildings you went into and got lost in. But I know the kids today will remember this as this their "dirty Toronto," and weirdly if they do, there is hope.

Like the whole mystery huffman cocktail that was being sold sprayed onto some inert "herb" mix widely here in headshops around a decade or so ago because the law hadn't caught up yet

This wasn’t even weed, it was the hemp-derived delta-8 stuff and was sold at gas stations and random headshops and Lt. Gov Dan Patrick was really really mad about it. Probably because he wasn’t getting a cut.

yeah at least around here they won't sell 'em if you say the word "popper," they expect you to keep up the pretense that you're a VCR owner, kind of like in finnicky headshops before weed got legal

A lot of the soft support for Talarico IMO is coming not only from Headshops that are about to go out of business, but also from property owners who’ve watched tenants disappear for years, and now are seeing one of their few profitable renters being forced to close.
After a decade of taxing the hell out of these businesses the TXGOP took a victory lap with the new law and a lot of business/property owners are pissed about it.

Lol! my brother & i were just talking about smoking art students in another thread. i never smoked but many of my art school pals did. Sobranies were super duper extra fancy, but the clove crowd preferred actual beedies which you could get (probably illegally) in headshops & Indian groceries

The Seventies were a weird time. I bet I saw one or the other of these books in one of the headshops I used to go to in Coconut Grove to buy incense and weird postcards while my parents drank beer at the American Legion, which used to be somewhere behind the library.
Back in the weird, wild 1970s, the prestigious firm of Alfred A. Knopf ran a crazy experiment in publishing outsider fiction in shiny hardbacks with striking designs and without dust jackets. They called them Borzoi Puppies. Here's a look at the eight puppies in the litter:

Yeah absolutely. I mean, headshops and gas station pills have been a problem forever.
We used to just pound ephedrine we would get at the gas station to stay up for days during finals/thesis time. It was NUTS that we could just get a bottle of those pills.

no yeah i genuinely have lost count of how many headshops ive walked into where they have Badass Rick and Naruto shit and i have to wonder if ive stepped into 2017 again on accident

yeah its completely gone. lean, too. been p much replaced by fent, or kratom extracts that you can buy from headshops & gas stations (like spice or saliva ~back in the day~).
