The Cheif is right, if you really want to leave Canada, just pack your bags and go. No one will be stopping you. Have a nice life, and don't forget to turn in your passport and healthcard.

This is a good idea, and it's why most Canadian provinces have separate IDs for healthcare that can only be used for health services.
The reverse is also true: no one except healthcare providers cn accept your healthcard as ID.

In Canada we can show up at the hospital 24x7 and all we do is show our healthcard. Same when we go to the doctor. Never having to worry our healthcare is cut off or won’t be paid.

If he likes the States that much, it's a short drive for him down the QEW. He just has to leave his passport and Healthcard at the border, and he can enjoy his life down there. All the best, don't let the door hit you on the way out.

I've never had a good or quick experience in them. Honestly would rather pull teeth for a more fun time 😕

The only thing you need to prove citizenship is your passport. Bring that with the healthcard and your licence. You should be fine. It's really crappy of the UCP to make what should be ordinary something horrifying. So on brand for them.

A lot of public health units run barrier free clinics for new immigrants, under housed, and other groups. Sometimes no ID or healthcard etc required.

Felt depressed for most of the weekend, but then I looked at my healthcard when getting bloodwork on Saturday and...could be a lot worse.

I just need to get my ON healthcard and that recommendation, and AWAY WE GO, BAYBEE!
