Stratonikeia held many names at different times in its history. Around 430 BCE the city was named Hekatesia before being named Stratonikeia by the Seleucids. Before that, it was called Idrias in the 500s BCE and even earlier, Chrysaoris. And Chrysaoris, my friends, is where things get interesting.
