Thank you! Herons and egrets are my favorite birds to photograph. They are so fun to watch!

Hardly anyone turned up to my herons-only party.

I have no egrets.

Thank you Rob. It was an almost surreal scene, with hundreds if not thousands of wood storks, egrets, herons, and other species all nesting. I've not seen anything like it before or since.

Here's the UC Davis press release for those who don't have a Chronicle log-in. With the report linked within.

As always, SR 37 is notable for its propensity for inundation.

Surprisingly, US 101 just north of Ventura doesn't come into play.

Amazing!! We we’re kayaking today and were commenting about the lack of herons/egrets in VT right now! Thanks for the chuckle! 🤣

Beautiful weather for a Birdability Week Gathering during the Grange Insurance Audubon Center's Fall Family Fest! ☀️🐦 It was amazing to explore along the Scioto River and see so many herons and egrets!

The term "white heron" is not a single specific species of bird, but rather a general term for white herons (such as great egrets, intermediate egrets, and little egrets), and whether or not they are migratory birds varies depending on the species.

It really is. In the last week I’ve seen a couple-three RSH, a few kites, a harrier, an owl, and a Cooper’s hawk flew into my neighbors’ tree while I happened to be out front. God knows how many pelicans, herons, egrets etc.

Wonderful when a trip to the Somerset Levels coincides with cutting back the rhynes - the herons and egrets absolutely love it. @everyheron.bsky.social
