An articulated skeleton with a skull was found later in 1966 at 5800 ft above sea level on the Krommespruit Mountain, giving us a better idea of the size and shape of Heterodontosaurus.

Heterodontosaurus was from the Early Jurassic and found in South Africa in 1962, excavated out of a mountain about 6200 ft in altitude, consisting of a partial crushed skull that was apparently very difficult to extract.

At this point, I actually don’t know why I know of Heterodontosaurus. I do remember it being one of the first dinosaurs I learned about when I was a kid, and I always liked how scary books made it look. They always looked so grumpy.

And before you say it... yes, you're right, it does appear to be the sister taxon of Heterodontosaurus.....

At SVPCA (Symposium of Vertebrate Palaeontology and Comparative Anatomy) held in Portsmouth, UK, in 2000, Max Langer gave a talk on early dinosaur phylogeny, at one point noting that Heterodontosaurus (an ornithischian) had epipophyses on its neck vertebrae....

These are short bony prongs atop other structures termed postzygapohyses, and they were _supposed_ to be unique to theropods. David Norman was in the audience and asked for clarification in the Q&A: "Whataminute... you're saying that Heterodontosaurus has epipophyses?", he asked...

I would say that the origins of the Ornithoscelida hypothesis were in conversations Dave Norman & I had during my PhD about Heterodontosaurus-theropod similarities. Dave really hadn’t really considered similaritiesbefore, but this ended with me recovering heterodontosaurids basal in Ornithischia.

Finished dinosaur comm for @softer_bug on Twitter!

Went with a Heterodontosaurus, the tusks and constant depiction as an angry skrunkly thing worked out well for this character!

(The brown rabbit ended up not being an AF attack since the character hadn't been posted to AF by the end of the month, but it was drawn in the same batch so is included here.)
