This was always a pipe dream. If the Lebanese government could do that, it would've done it without prompting. Basically the Israelis, specifically Bibi, got a ceasefire that would allow him to never really stop attacking Hezbullah if he could argue that Lebanon wasn't stopping Hezbullah. 7 & end/

The only reason Israel invaded was to stop hezbullah from bombing israeli civilians. The opposite is true, hezbullah is the only reason there is a war. Israel and the Government (probably) want the peace treaty that hezbullah opposes on purpose.

What really needs to happen, especially in regard to the Lebanon ceasefires, is to accurately describe them as not even ceasefires in name only. Because they're not between Israel & Hezbullah, they're between Israel & Lebanon, the latter is NOT a party to the conflict. 1/
