#HiDPI
I also think it’s worth noting in this conversation that Linux fell way *behind* on desktop parity with HDR / adaptive sync / graceful hiDPI support from like 2016 - 2024 and only recently caught back up, since I for one went back to WIndows around then

Same document can reflow, change line breaks or pagination, and look heavier/thinner across OSes—especially noticeable on macOS HiDPI and with ligatures or complex scripts. Skia itself has had stability issues on Mac/Windows.

* Fixed displaced notes after finishing MIDI recording inside some note groups.
* Fixed pitch control points/curves going beyond the piano roll’s vertical limits after note transposition.
* Fixed dialogs and voice selector not conforming to the HiDPI scaling on Windows.

Haven't used Netbeans in a while, nice to see how it's progressing. Long-standing HiDPI issues are *nearly* fixed in Linux, Markdown support is now built-in, etc. Kinda crazy how long it's been since I did any PHP. (Yes, Netbeans is my hobby PHP editor, I can't justify a JetBrains subscription.)

it was good for its time but didn't survive hidpi

I don't really like where #mac is going with the new touchscreen design... I've tried it once on my old XPS 9560 HiDPI and I disabled the feature within a month of getting it, plus I really cannot see any reason why Apple can magically make the idea work :(

I love this design especially with the blue accents!! I wondered what a HiDPI version would look like.

Testing BRUTAL framework.

I'm excited because it works in Wayland very well.

- It supports HIDPI in Wayland out of the box.
- ImGui renders fine.

Could be useful for small GUI apps too all with C# and .NET!

Trying Factor (https://factorcode.org/) again because I heard they finally fixed the issue where it was literally unusable on HiDPI monitors, and the language seems very intriguing (pretty much what I want out of Forth, versus what Forth actually is)

A single image gets scaled for different screen resolutions. Supply higher-resolution alternatives in Xojo’s Image Set Editor to preserve more detail.

i wonder why GNU IMP comes with both a 1x1 and 3x3 square brush when you can get a 3x3 by setting the 1x1 size to 3

also you can't see them in the menu on hiDPI displays because unlike competent image editors GNU IMP has no dedicated icons for its brushes and just uses the texture with no scaling

Claude Code just handled the my X11 -> Wayland migration in an hour (on a HiDPI screen, no less). There's a lot of potential here, and I wish someone less fashy would take it on.
FWIW the reason Omarchy is getting so much support is that it's legibly taking on the project of agent-maxxing to unfuck Linux, if you wanted to starve it of resources your best bet is probably to start a competing project that is legibly more serious.

nay text is too small to read on a non-HiDPI screen and text gets cut off slightly by media border radii

idk if you have a hidpi enough display you can do whatever you want since you just have so many pixels, but most people don't have displays at 254 ppi sooo

unironically, web designers need to test their work on a shitty chromebook and not on their hidpi macbooks with perfect color reproduction

Porting my Euclid project to SDL3 has been going with a resounding success on the Linux desktop. First test on the Linux laptop and ... Well, hidpi is broken in the particle system, but not so bad....

The firmware stack is the same as ChromeOS, so coreboot and closer to mainline kernel.

So I'd say paying $900+ (starting price) is honestly a steal for the hardware on show.

ALL currently announced Googlebooks have HiDPI screens and are built out of quality materials, at least 16GB RAM and an SoC

Massive, enormous macOS Golden Gate improvement that I super appreciate: something in its compositor/downsampling changed so when you're forcing HiDPI on external SDR displays, text looks noticeably smoother. Very very cool.
