Tried a bit more of the Ridge Racer HiSpec demo and I'm amazed how they pulled this off on the PSX. I think the only PSX games with even less texture warping are either flat shaded or 2D ;P

KPIC is doing some cool science, but it also serves as the pathfinder for HISPEC, which is in development.
This will be a general use instrument using a similar design with single mode fibers.

I am excited about the new discoveries from Gaia DR4, which can be followed by several instruments similar to KPIC, such as VLT/HiRISE and Subaru/REACH, and upcoming instruments such as Keck/HISPEC.
