Did you survive Cuban missile crisis? All of the Cold war? Israel being a state? Anwar sat? Airplane hijackings? 4 near drowning nightmares? Serve your country during Vietnam ? Go back to school at 30? Survive the nuclear industry? Save and serve 50+ cats? Step kids?
A bad cat scan could do same.

#Axadle Editorial Desk : After five months, the return of Pakistani survivors highlights piracy’s human cost. What protections and regional cooperation could better prevent such hijackings and support affected families?

You'd think that would make this postcard identifiable to some extent but sadly Wikipedia's list of *notable* hijackings doesn't include anything that was diverted to Luton.

Or the writer was being facetious.

#6194, Down aka The Shaft. The killer elevator movie starring a post Twin Peaks James Marshall and a literally just pre Mulholland Drive Naomi Watts. Also apparently Ike Barinholtz’s first feature?

I'm not a major Brandon hater or booster, overall this is a decent media piece. Saying crime is down and listing the murder and robbery stats seems alright. Something about "vehicular hijackings"...it's great that it's down but like damn is vehicular hijacking that big of a crime category?

YOU are making the link and then saying “it’s too bad they’re linked.” Do you similarly link the entire movement for Palestinian self-determination with Hamas, the 10/7 massacres, suicide bombings, stabbings, hijackings, etc?

I left a flag for Edna Cintron, largely believed to be ""the waving woman". We also paid some respects to Betty Ong, a flight attendant and the first person to get a message out about the hijackings.

Expecting zero hijackings of commercial jets per year wasn't even a thing until this century.

Piracy & armed robbery: The defenses that still matter
Global piracy and armed robbery figures fell sharply during the first half of 2026, yet successful hijackings, renewed activity off Somalia and incidents in other regional hotspots show why lower numbers should not translate into lower preparedness.

The first job of an Israeli prime minister is to protect their people from things like surprise militia attacks and hijackings, right?

Doesnt fit the narrative people prefer to post about. That's where the Bluesky self-righteous posters fail. Two things can and usually are true at the same time. Most didn't live through the 60s with hijackings and bombings all the time. They have no idea.

The period they’re talking about, where wackos would have planes diverted to Cuba, was also violent. It’s just that this was before hijackings became enmeshed with international terrorism.

Over 50 divisions were thoroughly affected. We are talking about troop train hijackings, officers completely ignored, rear-area camps completely mutinying and raising red flags of revolution. If the Germans had known to only push, the fragile agreement would have quickly turned into a mass rout

Post-9/11 security wasted billions, yet planes vanish and cockpit hijackings still happen. Meanwhile, a massive surveillance machine tracks citizens 24/7—while sleeping, talking, walking. Total blindness on actual safety, total omniscience on mass control. #Surveillance #Security #Privacy

Same for USA, yet 911 happened, eh?
There have been dozens of commercial aircraft hijackings & attacks carried out by Islamist militant groups over the past several decades. Researchers have documented at least 28 major recorded hijackings and direct attacks on aircraft by just by Palestinians.

We try not to mention those remakes. Those movies were about subway hijackings. This is a film about New York City.
#TodayInHistory: 🎬 #OnThisDay 52 years ago, the film “The Taking of Pelham One Two Three” opened in theaters. Now heralded as a classic, the 1974 action crime caper flick is the original film by this name. It was also remade in 1998 for TV and as a major motion picture in 2009.“

Strange how we haven't had plane hijackings in forever, and now they're MULTIPLYING and somehow all get interrupted by heroic John McClane nobodies when governments need a reason to bitch about muslims more.
