Developed by Dr. Zhen Xu and the late Dr. Charles Cain at the University of MI, histotripsy uses focused sound waves to liquefy cancerous tumors. Approved by the FDA in 2023, histotripsy is offered at the Cleveland Clinic and Johns Hopkins as well.
