Therefore, to explore and cover more distance in a single turn, one strategy is to have no slow creatures in a hero's army

Mages constantly study spells, only descending from their high ivory tower to go to the library or the Mages' Guild (and even then, only to study)

They are excellent shooters, although somewhat weak in resistance
