Inspired by @iandunt.bsky.social I have almost entirely weened myself off Amazon.

They were so ahead of the game on delivery & ease of transaction but obviously the rest of the world has caught up. Happily spending money now at Waterstones, Blackwell, Boots, Argos, John Lewis AND Holbury Hardware!

Great-tailed Grackle, Holbury, Hants. Stopped off to see this bird last Friday, what a great bird with so much character. It seemed to watch and analyse everything, so glad I saw it.

Boat-tailed Grackle looking a bit sad in the gardens of Holbury this morning. Relatively easy short twitch with Dad #UKbirding #BetterthanaSparrow

Finally got round to see the Boat Tailed Grackle today at Holbury, Hants. That journey it had on a ship across the Atlantic - if only it could tell us the full story it would be amazing I'm sure. Thanks to Sue Knight for letting us in her garden.

Boaty McBoatface...

*I liked Grackatak as well, 'specially for the 80s pop-jazz-funk fans out there...

Reidentification news: the not countable Boat-tailed Grackle in Holbury, Hants has been reidentified through DNA as a not countable Great-tailed Grackle. My American friends: could we have worked this out without DNA? #birds 🪶🐦

Not the USA East coast but Holbury, Hamps. This bird was first spotted on the 02/11/25 nr Calshot castle but has relocated to Holbury. The first recorded Boat-tailed Grackle in the UK, AFAIK. It seems to be unafraid of humans but is wary of dog walkers! Absolutely stunning bird. #UKbirding

What better way to fill the quiet time between Christmas and New Year than a trip to see the long-staying Great-tailed Grackle at Holbury 😊

Nothing raises hackles like a shackle-free Grackle, to make maniacal listers cackle as committees tackle exactly what to do...

The Day of the Grackle.

Time for some midweek entertainment on the south coast where the Boat-tailed Grackle was doing its thing in Holbury. Part corvid, part wagtail, part peacock too with his swagger & strut. A bird made for Category S 😎

Risso's Dolphin on an AK Wildlife Cruise from Falmouth in September, clustered bonnets at Millyford Bridge in the New Forest in October, Great-tailed Grackle at Holbury in November and dew covered spider web at Lakeside earlier this month.

Sharing (maybe) the BEST black thing on this Black Friday....the Boat-tailed Grackle, which I had the pleasure of catching up with in Holbury, New Forest.

What a stunning bird - soooo glossy, gorgeous iridescent sheen, very confiding, absolutely full of character and check out his eyes! 😍

The Great tailed Grackle is still showing very well at Holbury. One of two reported today, the other is in Speke, Lancashire.

I do like an Icterid, & a minor homeward detour this afternoon saw me taking in the wonderfully characterful Boat-tailed Grackle currently residing in Holbury. Thanks to the gent who invited me into his drizzly garden, as the bird wandered around the lawn with the local Woodpigeons #PlasticFantastic
