My thoughts today are with the >19 million specimens held by the Academy of Natural Sciences and the dedicated staff who care for them. This ANSP holotype specimen is special to me, as I named it for my advisor, John Lundberg, a former ANSP Curator and authority on all catfishes, living, and fossil.

Drexel justified it's move with rather flimsy financial reasons and no plan is given for the building or collections, which include countless, priceless specimens like the the holotype of Hadrosaurus, the animal you see here.

happy #fossilfriday! this is lyrarapax, a radiodont from middle cambrian china. incredibly, the holotype preserves details of the animal’s nervous system, indicating that their raptorial frontal appendages were protocerebral, as was its labum

Qilin tungurensis (formally Palaeotragus tungurensis) have a new genus name now!
Mainly based on the holotype and paratype AMNH 26582/26583, the part of horn core based on the refered IVPP V33851.
