The Petition to do Baby B as a kinship adoption was filed today. Hopefully we will hear back very soon. This isn't the adoption paperwork, this is just the paperwork that would allow us to skip a homestudy and a whole lot of *other* paperwork.

While I wait for our plane home, wanted to talk a bit about our adoption experience. Two years ago we decided we wanted to have a second child and reached out to the same agencies we worked with before, one in MA & one in FL. We had to go through a homestudy, dr visits, background check again.
Exciting life update: Nate and I have adopted our second child: Aviva. She was born 19 March and we were so lucky to have been with her since. It has been (& continues to be) a crazy journey but worth it.

It should be heavily scrutinized by people whose practices center adopted people. I had a colleague who would immediately turn down applicants to foster or adopt tweens/teens over her strangeass whims — one time over a person’s name. Yet most states allow private no-homestudy infant adoption WHAT.

If the boy was adopted, there would have been court records, a homestudy, Dr. & school records showing him as legal parent.Most likely the child would have changed their last name.I know all 3 of my daughters were adopted. I have been blessed and they are in every family photo. They ARE MY FAMILY.
