The Homewood Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved a site plan for a 45,110-square-foot bicycle manufacturing facility at 1313–1351 W. 175th St., attaching three conditions including a revised landscape plan, parcel consolidation and approval of an outlot vacation; staff said changes were minor and can be handled at permit review.

Consultants told the Village Board the closed Walmart has cost the village roughly $850,000 a year in sales tax and presented high-level options—pursue an acquisition/buyout, use incremental TIF revenue to underwrite bonds, or wait out the existing lease (estimated 9–10 years). The briefing was informational; no decision was requested tonight.

A resident urged the village president to use the South Suburban Mayors and Managers seat to form a coalition pressing ComEd and the Illinois Commerce Commission for a grid-equity audit and other actions after prolonged outages.
