Honeybees understand the concept of zero, or "null set", putting them in the same cognitive class as parrots, dolphins and primates in that regard.
What's more interesting to me is HOW WE CAN KNOW THAT.

The bee regurgitates the nectar, now converted into a dilute pre-honey, and dangles a thin strand out of its mouth, allowing it to evaporate and concentrate to below 20% water to prevent fermentation.
It's continuously recycled back to the honey stomach until "dry" enough.

I took this cropped photo of a honey bee on my hummingbird feeder last Dec. I used to take my feeder down during the winter, but over time, I started seeing more bees, hummingbirds, (and bugs in general), about, so now I leave my feeder up all year. #photography #honey_bee #honeybee #nature #bee
