Last stop on our Sri Lankan Air Force tour, saw us stop off at SLAF Base China Bay, home to No.1 Flying Training Wing. They operate a mix of training aircraft, including the Hongdu PT-6 - an updated version of the Nanchang CJ-6.

The Hongdu L-15 Falcon advanced jet trainer is known as the JL-10 in service with the PLAAF. Outside of China it is operated by the Zambian Air Force and the UAE have also recently ordered some.

the trainer that is in quantity and also used in Myanmar and stuff, is the Hongdu JL-8 or Karakorum-8 as a joint project with Pakistan. It uses a Ukrainian jet engine and serves a bunch of random air forces.
