Technically, it's an ensemble cast, split evenly into four diff perspectives, so there's not *quite* one MC, buuut we'll go with the first. Poor fella 😅

1 | Hellooo 👋 My friends call me Kay. I'm a mom, English teacher, and perpetually procrastinating *perhaps-someday* (<-- baller alliteration, amirite) author. 😅

I think I might go with my *extremely* underdeveloped #HorrorWIP this time, just for fun!

1. Introduce yourself and share 5 emojis that represent your WIP A prompt game for the month of November, titled #Novmemeber (as in meme). Hosted by @sagetgreene.bsky.social . The bottom says "Have fun, interact, and remember alt text!" There is a silly emoji face with wild eyes and tongue sticking out, and some fall-style leaves in the corners.

Writing horror is weird because I’ll spend 3 hours crafting an unsettling scene where something ancient watches from the walls and then take a break to go fold laundry like "yep. totally normal day." #AmWriting #HorrorWIP

horrorWIP (or ETwip) is a Narcissus-inspired queer adult horror that follows a cohort of grad school students who run headlong into the destructive and impossible power of desiring what you already have.

There’s also a god-like monster and mind-addling pollution.

Finally making time to work on my horrorWIP! It’s like a dark academia-ish retelling of echo and narcissus? I know how it ends but I’m struggling with where it starts lol

this one’s for horrorWIP😌
Caravaggio’s oil painting of Narcissus. From Wikipedia: “Caravaggio painted an adolescent page wearing an elegant brocade doublet, leaning with both hands over the water, as he gazes at this own distorted reflection.[2] The painting conveys an air of brooding melancholy: the figure of Narcissus is locked in a circle with his reflection, surrounded by darkness, so that the only reality is inside this self-regarding loop. The 16th century literary critic Tommaso Stigliani explained the contemporary thinking that the myth of Narcissus "clearly demonstrates the unhappy end of those who love their things too much."[4]” (I entirely disagree and prefer the ironic interpretation that this is a tale about the impossibility of desiring what you already have; in Ovid, Narcissus is unhappy not because he loves his reflection, but because he longs for it, and yet by virtue of already having himself, he cannot gain what he sees. It is both heartbreaking and ridiculous.)

Allyson's forced to use an old field hockey stick if she can't hide from conflict

Beckett uses her muscle car if her smarts and planning fail

Roxanna has the power of ghosts on her side

Carter's an old-fashioned gun kind of guy and he has a smart mouth which usually causes problems

Went kinda wild with Canva for my Sunday off. Made two moodboards for my WIP “Unintended Designs” and it’s four main cast members. #moodboard #amwriting #sffwriter #amwritingscifi #amwritinghorror #writersky #scifiaesthetic #horrorwip
Moodboard with photos of scientific vials, holes, an x-ray of a skeleton, a wall with “Everyone Makes Mistakes” on it in capital white letters, plants growing in water, and a space theme. In the center the words “Unintended Designs” are written in rough red script. Moodboard with a long- haired person shadowed in darkness against a pink background holding up a phone, a pixel rose over a glitching screen, more glitch and star and AI themed images, and including neon lights of the words “All We Have Is Now”. The words “Tech Rose Harken” title the top. A moodboard against a white image of scientific glass measuring cups with clear liquids and plants in them. At the center the moodboard is titled “Jonathan Isengrim”. It includes photos of test tubes and phrases like “Never Stop Dreaming” and “Impossible is for the Unwilling” A moodboard titled “Inspector Jen Ishii” at the top against a starry background. The moodboard includes photos of a caged rat, a cuttlefish, a person standing against a window with a planet outside, and phrases like “It’s all in the journey…” and “There is a light that never goes out” and “Don’t worry. No one else knows what they’re doing either.”
