this was honestly the best opportunity to try and illustrate a suspension feeding ammonite's radula, i think i did pretty well

Nostoceras is probably one of the most interesting ammonites on the list imo, a teenie suspension feeder that twirled around when descending into the water column, what's not to love???

Day 3 #HotAmmoniteAugust - Lobolytoceras

Lobolytoceras is an example of an ammonite with sexual dimorphism! one specimen was found where the male was inside the female's shell (it was just taphonomy but still cool!)
a male Lobolytoceras has a close call with a hungry female who's shot her hooked tentacles out to grab a meal, her calcified beak and radula ready to feast. he's detached one of his hectocotyli which has swam to the female with a spermatophore at the very end.
