God I remember when hotbot came out. It's search capabilities were so much better than everything else at time.
I think I used Hotbot until Google was released to the public.
Nothing like memories of the before times.

Oh wow...everything old really is new again.
In the early days of search engines (think HotBot, Alta Vista, Ask Jeeves etc), website developers would often trick them into giving their sites higher rankings by adding a bunch of key words/phrases into the site as white text on a white background.

As I said the other day: Everything old is new again. This is how website developers used to fool early search engines like HotBot, AltaVista, Yahoo & early Google into higher-ranked listings. They’d bake in every “key word” they could think of in white text on a white background.

As I said the other day: Everything old is new again. This is how website developers used to fool early search engines like HotBot, AltaVista, Yahoo & early Google into higher-ranked listings. They’d bake in every “key word” they could think of in white text on a white background.
