Card-stock tickets. Print-at-home tickets. Tickets on phone or tablet screens. Tickets on dim phone/tablet screens that the patron doesn't know how to adjust. Tickets for the same seat. Tickets for a different night. House Managers deal with all of these. #HouseManagerAW

Why House Manager Appreciation Week? House Managers are responsible for half of what makes theatre: the audience. Despite this, House Managers are frequently forgotten by cast, crew, & rest of production staff. That's why #HouseManagerAW exists.

December is #TheatreFireSafety month. You know where all of the exits in your theatre are, but your audience doesn't. Your House Managers are responsible for getting 100's of invited strangers out safely. You should thank them. #HouseManagerAW

House Managers have called for an ambulance more than anyone else in your venue: THANK THEM! #HouseManagerAW

Another reason to appreciate your House Managers: they have to deal with the audience members when you cancel a show. #HouseManagerAW

House Managers have to explain to otherwise fully functioning adults why taking flash photos, taking phone calls, or texting from a screen at full brightness during a show is not appropriate & distracting. And nicely, so they come back. You should thank them. #HouseManagerAW

Ever have to deal with a patron who vomited during your show, and the family of 4 that was vomited on? And do your best to convince all of them to come back? That's what House Managers do. You should thank yours. #HouseManagerAW

House Managers are frequently forgotten by the rest of the production staff, as the focus is on the product on stage, not the audience. But your House Managers ensure your audience has the best experience possible at your show, regardless of if the show is good or terrible.

It's House Manager Appreciation Week! A good House Manager can convince a patron to come back for the next production even when your current production is crap. You should thank them. #HouseManagerAW

In today's world of print-at-home & display-on-your-phone tickets, House Managers are frequently the first face of your theatre that a patron sees. You should thank them, since it is House Manager Appreciation Week! #HouseManagerAW

It's House Manager Appreciation Week! And since most of you don't have shows today, you've got time to think about what you're going to do to thank them for their hard work. #HouseManagerAW

House Manager Appreciation Week is always the week after Thanksgiving (US), as that tends to be when most holiday shows begin in earnest, bringing large numbers of patrons who rarely attend the theatre, & thereby creating more work for your House Managers. #HouseManagerAW

The 15th annual House Manager Appreciation Week starts tomorrow! As the holiday season kicks in to high gear, we welcome more people new to theatre through our doors. Which means our House Managers are working harder than ever! Take a moment to thank them this #HouseManagerAW!
