Posted 2 replies to this already but it's really rankled with me this morning. How TF do you pay back a 50 year mortgage? Most people couldn't get a mortgage before their late 20's so could expect to work to 80 or probably default? Madness, but then who gets the house AND the money.

When my Dad bought a new-build house in the 70s, the mortgage was 20 years on one salary. When my wife & I bought a new-build house, the mortgage was 30 years on two salaries.
If we could have borrowed more, the house would have been dearer but it wouldn't have had more rooms or a bigger garden.

The idea of parasite companies controlling housing shouldn't be possible. In some shape or form the state/regions should own and control domestic rentals. Legislation should ensure nobody is forced into homelessness. The world gets worse instead of better. Greed rules.
