a favorite Zen story...
A pair of monks looking at a flag flapping in the wind were having a little debate over whether it was the flag that was flapping or it was the wind that was flapping. They asked the future Zen teacher, Huineng, for his view.
Huineng replied, "Your mind is flapping."

The tomb of the parents of Huineng, the Sixth Patriarch of Chan (Zen) stands at Guo'en Temple, Xincheng, Zhaoqing, Guangdong. He was born a short walk away in what is now called "Sixth Patriarch Village." After a lifelong association with this temple, he spent his last years and passed away here.

Doing a survey of photographs published in the Chinese Buddhist periodical Haichao yin 海潮音 between 1920 and 1947. The first issue features images of two mummified monks, Hanshan 憨山 and Huineng 惠能. Similar figures have been imaged and found to have an actual body inside of them.
