Considering Hul’q’umi’num people are still negotiating a treaty with Canada, it's disrespectful to claim their products as "Canadian": www.bctreaty.ca/hulquminum-t...
If they want to be Canadian that's their business, but please don't use First Nations as rhetorical cover for Canadian nationalism.

Arbutus menziesii, the incredible Pacific madrone tree. It grows on fierce, dry, exposed rock cliffs over the ocean in saltspray around the Salish Sea. The word for the arbutus in the Hul'q'umi'num language is qaanlhp. The red bark can be seen at large distances.

Thank you for amplifying the Hul’q’umi’num people who traditionally make Cowichan sweaters for their livelihood on Vancouver Island. It’s so important to buy the genuine article rather than cheaper imitations (which appropriate someone else’s culture for economic benefit) youtu.be/4yy5NUu5KFw?...

Every landmark in the Cowichan valley has an ancient name, a Hul’q’umi’num sne’.

Stutsun was the first who fell from the sky and he prayed for a companion and so Tsitsulh Siem sent him Swuq’us.

💕 Happy VDay! We’re celebrating connection & the beauty of nature by learning more about perennial native wildflower Dicentra formosa or Pacific bleeding heart.

In Hul’q’umi’num, one our our local Indigenous languages, it is called sp’eq’ums tu ‘ulhqi’ meaning “snake flower” 🐍
