All of the DOGWOOD non-humans are referred to broadly as fey but they're more like basic wolf shifters, with the exception of the Hag, the Fairest, and Hildegjerd. The first 2 are seasonal deities. Hildegjerd is a huldrefolk, complete with a hollow back, where she hangs her lantern. #writingprompt
Hildegjerd raised the conch to her lips and blew. A long, sonorous note carried up and down the river, burrowing deep into Wesley’s skull and ribs. A tremor ran out from the huldrefolk, pushing waves up the bank high enough to make the spectators scream and retreat. The earth rumbled, trees wobbling like snapped rubber bands. A great roaring, sucking sound filled Wesley’s ears as thousands of gallons of water were displaced at once, spilling and crashing away from the mountainous beasts rising out of the river’s depths. Hildegjerd continued to blow the conch, while the other huldrefolk whooped and spun their staffs, soaring upward with their feet planted firmly on the heads and shoulders of giant cows. Hildegjerd’s great mount headed up the inlet and carried her away: up the nixie’s river, toward the valley which had long been the calving grounds for the huldrefolk’s herd. The bulls led the way, twenty, thirty feet tall, with horns nearly as wide as their bodies were long, scything through the slender pines growing alongside the nixie’s river. One for each of the huldrefolk, the bulls cut a devastating path through the forest, blazing a trail for the herd that followed: over one hundred head of cattle marching up from the water, water cascading from their mossy, barnacle-crusted backs, their lowing travelling like earthquakes.

Owen automatically shuffled backward till he hit a file cabinet. “You want to know what my problem is? You want to know what I’ve been doing ever since I broke the dam, and now, that you tricked me—manipulated me—into returning the Horn of Evercalf to the huldrefolk—and ever since then, I have been thinking about how small and useless your hands are!” He grabbed one of Owen’s wrists and shook it for emphasis, making the hand flop around. “Yeah? I got a small dick too, gonna drag me for that while you’re at it?” Owen tugged futilely against Wesley’s grip. “Can you throw a punch? Can you even open jars? When this massive tower of shit you have infiltrated inevitably comes crumbling down on top of you, how do you intend to dig yourself out with hands like these?”

Val'dran would probably be either general huldrefolk/haugfolk (hill people) or a gardvord/nisse.

The former I can imagine him as a hulder with the cow's tail and hollow back because I love 'em and he *is* beautiful.

The Taladas elves were all pretty different from each other as well. The Silvanaes were very influenced by the Silvanesti from which they were descended, but they were nothing like the Huldrefolk elves, who were much more fae in outlook or the nomadic Tamire elf clans.

Lillesøstrene mine er for evig og alltid skremt av tussekallene av mormor, som bare skulle forklare lydene i huset fra 1911 når de prøvde å sove, og i stedet gav dem livslang angst for huldrefolk. Som sikkert bare er sunt.
