So-called “dark humorists” when the court jester’s ribald satire seeks to geld thy Lord or Lady’s reputation rather than that of a foolish peasant or rival squire

I am a grumpy skeptic about whether humorists really change the narrative on political issues, but I have to admit John Oliver’s piece on Justice Thomas and his rich donors is absolutely devastating in every where.

In the war of words with our northern neighbor, Canadian humorists & comedians are skewering Trump effectively & mercilessly.

In response, American humorists & comedians are skewering Trump mercilessly & effectively.

We need those comedians, satirists, and other political humorists to keep our sanity afloat — and our rights!

I realized that some people may be thinking that this Kimmel situation is “only” about comedians and humorists.

If you think BlueSky lacks "irreverence", you are following boring people... maybe because you are counting on an algorithm to organically bring you more interesting one

Follow more queer people. More shitposters. More sex workers. More humorists. This place is a concert hall of chaos.

A lot of the best humor comes from pain. That's why the top humorists post WWII were Jewish, then you saw Black Humorists take center stage starting in the civil rights era.

Humor is a survival instinct.

In 1993, I interviewed @neilhimself.neilgaiman.com for my zine, Permission. He taught me about P.G. Wodehouse, the source of the path that humorists like Douglas Adams & Terry Pratchett strode. Wodehouse became my favorite author, and I'll always be grateful to Neil Gaiman for that gift.

My post from yesterday also addresses talented humorists and artists role in our political atmosphere.
Laugh to keep from crying. Thank you to all the comedians and political satire cartoonists/artists who use their wit and talent to bring humor to current affairs. ✨
