Maybe least idiotic... Berkeley politics are just ridiculous, in a hyper local way.

Extremely hyper local joke.
the center of political power in 2027 is the radio bakery line.

Shout out to the hyper local election shit going on, voting for super niche stuff has a huge impact

ah shit let me look at the hyper-local judicial races... I'm scared

Anyway, I've seen solid mutual aid projects start with less than a tenth of the budget of a local campaign. They're still there over a decade later, long after said candidates went hyper conservative in office, gobbled up more money, lost and then moved on to "consulting."

Having a drink with friends and Oh God Oh No, a very hyper local band is playing.

The fun part about running a hyper-local campaign is that I literally have nothing to go on other than word of mouth
November 3, 2026 at 8:53 PM
i mean thats what they hire staffers for aint it

tbh i have yet to see a single shred of evidence that calling representatives meaningfully does anything (outside of, like. *maybe* hyper local municipal shit where you're like one of eight callers). and like. why would it

Still haven't filled out my ballot, but I want to drop it off tonight. It's the hyper local candidates that I can't decide on, none of them are any good.
November 3, 2026 at 2:09 AM
...and a hyper-local shout out to my local mayor, Erica Deuso, the first openly transgender mayor in PA, who won in 2025!

Ms. Deuso was an early adopter hahaha

Many of the people who ruin lives got their start in hyper local politics. The people responsible for book bans and a bunch of nonsensical local laws and policies are the demons that work their way up to congress.

on repeat while filling out my ballot, thank u @johnelliott.bsky.social johnelliott.bandcamp.com/track/we-lov...

i would like to share the hyper-local bisexuality / pansexuality differentiation bc i think its a good one

bisexual: attraction to same and other genders; gender influences attraction and/or sexual preferences

pansexual: gender irrelevant to attraction/preferences

The ways the American War for Independence was like 20% armies maneuvering against each other and 80% vicious hyper-local grudge settling death squads has also been completely obliterated from public memory
October 29, 2026 at 12:46 AM
the problem with hyper local politics is who are any of these people and how am I meant to know anything about any of them

Just from looking at hyper local politics in Minneapolis, orgs doing similar bullshit can be very closely related.

(hello this is a joke I posted at - if you will notice the time stamp - about 1am GMT when mutuals were trying to decode very early, and therefore hyper-local, results so unless you are a Brit I follow & get on with but were obsessing over some corner of Florida at midnight it's not about you)

My argument for the future is hyper local human centered services.
