I love that RAY GUNN looks so normal and not like concept art that was drawn with glow in the dark crayons, has human characters that barely resemble humans and is animated like fake stop motion in 9 fps. That hyperstylized kind of CG animation became annoying really quick.

I love the storybook telling of past events! I loved this in Digimon Story Time Stranger too! Hyperstylized recounting is always awesome if done well :D

The rococo bit felt like almost a non-sequitur but the hyperstylized fantasy bit seemed to make sense. The thing is I don't think they succeeded in making that look good whereas the video narrator disagrees, but that's fine with me tbh to each their own I spose

Stacked cast, stacked soundtrack, and a couple of great performances. The hyperstylized editing was a product of the time, but now it almost feels nostalgic. This movie holds up.

I guess I'm mad that he's being hyperstylized but in a way that codes as more 'authentic' and it's yet another case of having to go "actually it wasn't like that" when I just want a movie that shows the medieval period in a historically grounded manner cuz that's cool.

Watched "They Will Kill You" last night and I have fallen in love with Zazie Beats. I need to see more films with her in them. The hyperstylized fight sequences mixed with Evil Dead type hilarity and gore was awesome. But Zazie in them panties though 🤤🥵...Anyway, hope you all have a great hump day!

Tim Burton's BATMAN didn't teach Hollywood that audiences wanted films that took the superheroes they currently loved seriously. It taught Hollywood that audiences liked superhero movies with hyperstylized retro aesthetics, so they went all-in on heroes like Dick Tracy, The Shadow, The Phantom, etc.
