#Hyperlocal
That's why the response teams are hyperlocal. One single block might have a signal loop with every person on the street on it.

"more homes within the eruv" is some hyperlocal YIMBYism and I am here for it
Chag Sukkot Sameach! I am sending my best wishes as Jewish neighbors across the 44th Ward celebrate Sukkot!

Neighbors have built sukkahs across the ward! Bringing more homes within the eruv is one of my priorities as your next Alderperson.

Enjoy Sukkot, sending my wishes for good sukkah weather!

I want us to study the history of resistance to slave catchers right now. I want us to study how slave catchers worked, how they were sanctioned, who paid them, and why they did what they did, right now. I want us to study the hyperlocal and networked ways slave catchers were impeded. Right now.

This is really it. Hyperlocal organizing is what will save us.
As I said to a young friend after this abomination was reelected - community is everything now

part of the reason the crunchy granola people went right wing is because they're convinced personal decisions and hyperlocal options can replace national safety authorities
sure. fine. that's nice. that's not a scalable solution and it condemns a lot of people to death. we are a collective and a society and it is our right to have safe nonpoisonous food. and we should fight for it.
Hit up your farmers market. See what they have. Talk to the producers. Ask if they do community share. Spend your money with people in your area. Put more power in the pockets of the farmers around you.

I just want to say again that building more densely very often does *increase* hyperlocal property values because density brings amenities.

this sometimes gets glossed over.
i agree that building more housing is a good thing! but their own polling shows the average voter has a folk theory of politics where higher supply means higher prices and that they fucking hate any non-SFH zoning!

NYC: August 2nd, we’re taking to the streets across the city.

Because it’s time to build community resistance—and that starts with you, in your neighborhood, on your block.

There are lots of local elections and reasons to make sure your vote counts.

Make sure and vote. Even of it is just a hyperlocal issue.

Vote. We still can vote.

I hope everyone’s ready for several dozen pieces about what a vote at a hyperlocal grocery store means for society/America/the Democrats
The Park Slope Food Coop vote to boycott Israeli goods PASSES, 67%–31%, with 2% abstaining.

4,551 pro-boycott
2,083 anti-boycott

(6,772 total present)
Main question 2:
"Until Israel complies with international law, including by ceasing unlawful discriminatory practices in its treatment of Palestinians, the Coop will not sell goods produced in Israel (pre-1967 borders) or in Israeli settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory."

I wish every LGA had an independently owned and operated hyperlocal news source too!

Would strengthen our democracy enormously!

Do you have a hyperlocal in your community? #auspol

My entire understanding of politics, particularly the hyperlocal “safety” fears, changed when I started to view it through the lens of “do I feel unsafe or uncomfortable”

The absurd hyperlocal drama I am in invested in: an LA bagel truck chain called (help) Yeastie Boys did a collaboration with the New York Post’s new California branch. Painted trucks red, handed out mock papers. You’re never gonna believe this but bagel truck patrons aren’t Murdoch fans, turns out

Data centers kind of have a reverse NIMBY problem where the benefits are hyperlocal (because they shovel money at local governments) and the rising power costs are regional. Meanwhile solar and wind have hyperlocal land/aesthetic costs and more general benefits. Not fun!
